According to the Statistics Bureau of Pakistan, the CPI inflation, general, in the country has galloped by 12.72% on year-on-year basis in the month of March, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The bureau has released its monthly report about the inflation and according to the data, general CPI inflation rose by 12.72% in the month of March 2022. On month-on-month basis, the inflation has been increased by 0.8% in March 2022 as compared to increase of 1.2% in the previous month and increase of 0.4% in March 2021.
In the urban areas the CPI rose by 0.7% on month-on-month basis as compared to increase of 0.9% in the previous month and increase of 0.3% in March 2021.
So the CPI inflation urban rose by 11.9% on year-on-year basis in March 2022 as compared to an increase of 11.5% in the previous month and 8.7% in March 2021.
In rural areas, the CPI inflation was soared by 1.0% in March 2022 as compared to increase of 1.5% in the previous month and hike of 0.5% in March 2021.
So the CPI inflation rural was increased by 13.9% on year-on-year basis in March 2022 as compared to an increase of 13.3% in the previous month and 9.5% in March 2021.
The inflation rate from July to March remained 10.77%.
The CPI inflation on month-on-month basis hiked the prices of almost all food items in the month of March. Prices of chicken registered an increase of 33.63%; fruit by 15.17%; mustard oil by 8.73%; ghee by 8.32%; cooking oil by 5%; onion by 7%; and Dal Chana became expensive by 2.1%.
However, on year-on-year basis, the price of tomatoes registered an increase by 148.65% in the month of March; mustard oil by 59.91%; ghee by 49.56; cooking oil by 48%, Masoor Dal by 38.32%; vegetable by 34.94%; fruit by 32%; meat by 23.68%; and chicken by 19.59%.
