Pakistan Foreign Office has summoned the US Chargé d’affaires to register its protest over “threat letter” shown by Prime Minister Imran Khan during his public speech, reported 24NeewsHD TV channel on Friday.
Reportedly, the Foreign Office handed over the protest note to the US envoy.
The National Security Committee (NSC) in its Thursday’s meeting declared the communication of a foreign country’s senior official a “blatant interference” in the internal affairs of Pakistan and decided to issue a strong demarche to the country in question.
The 37th meeting of the NSC which met under the chair of Prime Minister Imran Khan decided that the demarche would be issued through proper channel in keeping with the diplomatic norms.
However, the United States State Department on Thursday rejected Prime Minister Imran Khan’s allegations regarding the United States interference in the no-confidence motion against the PM or sending any threatening letter to Pakistan while answering queries posed by the 24NewsHD TV channel.
The White House spokesperson, also, rejected Prime Minister Khan’s allegation when the spokesperson was asked a question about the US interference by a journalist.
The spokesperson said there was no truth in these allegations.
On the other hand, opposition leaders have declared the prime minister a security risk who is trying to destroy the diplomatic relations of the country in a bid to save his government.
Opposition Leader in National Assembly and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President yesterday demanded to ban the speeches of Prime Minister Imran Khan declaring him a security risk for the country.
JUI Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman wondered why the premier invited the US envoy to the OIC meeting if the memo was threatening.
