Pakistani media personality Mariam Ansari has decided to provide some reassuring statements for the fellow mother community by stating: “All the ladies out there who just became mothers, just know that Instagram is not real and you are doing a great job.”
Here is the exact message posted by Mariam Ansari on her social media handle: “I often watch certain reels on Instagram which make motherhood look so easy and unrealistic. I mean I barely get time to eat a meal on time and little things like taking a picture, ironing clothes, getting ready and eating becomes a luxury. So all the ladies out there who just became mothers just know that Instagram is not real and you are doing a great job.”
It is quite common these days to develop insecurities after coming across the unrealistic lifestyle standards promoted on social media with vigor.
However, it is quite important to understand that people only choose to share those aspects of their lives which they feel comfortable with because no one can know what actually happens behind the scenes and what someone is going through in real life.
Mental health conditions are not uncommon. It’s estimated that 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men will experience major depression in their lives. Other conditions, such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, are less common but still have a large impact on people’s lives.
In 2019, 1 in every 8 people, or 970 million people around the world were living with a mental disorder, with anxiety and depressive disorders the most common.
In 2020, the number of people living with anxiety and depressive disorders rose significantly because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A lot of renowned influencers however have been relentlessly trying to eradicate the false portrayal of effortless motherhood featured on social media, let us give the reference of popular Pakistani YouTuber Anushae Khan who has lately given birth to an adorable young boy and the lady makes sure to inform her fan following every now and then regarding the struggles she faces every day managing her little one’s routine.
Another social media star Maryam Ishtiaq is also quite looked up to by the mother community as the lady makes sure to provide her fan following with tips and tricks on how to manage newborns’ unpredictable demands, depression related with postpartum etc, whereas, the influencer also posts easy to whip up recipes which little children would love.
