Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Tuesday telephoned Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and told him that parents of Rizwana, a 14-year-old maid who was currently admitted in Lahore’s General Hospital (LGH) due to life-threatening injuries she suffered allegedly during torture by a judge’s wife, had demanded justice from the government, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The chief minister also updated the prime minister on health of the child as well as treatment facilities being provided to her.
PM Shehbaz told CM Naqvi to assure the girl’s family that justice would be done in their case.
Yesterday, medics at the LGH had declared the condition of a teenage maid as critical and said that next 48 hours were crucial for her life.
Rizwana has been under treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the LGH since July 24.
Chief Executive of the hospital Professor Al-Fareed Zafar, while declaring the next 48 hours highly crucial for Rizwana’s life, said the girl’s mother had suspected that Rizwana had been poisoned by her employer during domestic violence in Islamabad.
“Her blood sample has been sent for laboratory test after her complaint,” Dr Zafar added.
It may be recalled that Rizwana was allegedly subjected to brutal torture by the wife of civil judge Asim Hafeez on the allegation of stealing gold jewellery.
