The federal government has constituted a 27-member steering committee for the schemes of parliamentarians under the chair of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal was deprived of the chairmanship of a key committee. Earlier, he was removed from the post of Deputy Chairman Planning Commission.
Now Ahsan Iqbal has been included as a member of the newly formed steering committee. Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Rana Sanaullah, Commerce Minister Jam Kamal, Federal Minister for Power Owais Laghari and Minister for Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan are the members of the committee.
Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Salik Hussain is among the members of the committee. 9 members of the National Assembly and the respective federal secretaries will be part of the committee while officers from all four provinces have also been included in the committee.
Despite the economic difficulties, it was decided to continue the development schemes of parliamentarians this financial year. In the budget, 75 billion rupees have been allocated for the development budget of the members of the National Assembly.
During the last financial year, the development budget of parliamentarians was frozen at Rs61.31 billion.
