Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that artificial increase in prices cannot be tolerated. She directed the authorities concerned to start a special campaign to check adulteration in milk, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
While chairing a second meeting in a week on devising a mechanism to control prices of daily-use items in the province, she had a detailed review of issues related to supply chain and pricing mechanism of chicken and milk in the province.
During the meeting, she discussed in detail a comprehensive strategy to prevent artificial increase in the prices of essential commodities like chicken and milk. CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif said, “all stakeholders must work together to improve supply chain performance.”
She said that by improving supply chain with the use of modern technology, stability in prices should be brought. Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb and Price Control Task Force Chairperson Salma Butt attended the meeting.
Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Secretary Agriculture Iftikhar Sahoo, Secretary Food Moazzam Sipra, Secretary Livestock Masood Anwar, Principal Secretary to CM Sajid Zafar Dal and other relevant officers were also present.
Meanwhile, CM Maryam Nawaz has ordered to start the construction of roads in the province by 15 September. While chairing a meeting to review 471 road projects under Roads Rehabilitation Programme, she agreed to complete the Roads Rehabilitation Program by June 30.
Chief Minister reviewed 75 projects of road rehabilitation in villages under Rural Roads Rehabilitation Program. She added,”With a budget outlay of Rs 192 billion, also start work on rural roads by 15 September.”
CM Maryam Nawaz directed the authorities concerned to undertake construction and rehabilitation of Kartarpur Corridor. She said GT Road to Quaid-e-Azam Interchange Ring Road will be constructed and expanded. She added that 93 km-long road from Multan to Vehari will also be constructed and repaired.
Chief Minister said,”Faisalabad-Chiniot-Sargodha Road and Kumahan interchange 24 km-road will also be constructed and repaired.” She added, “We will take the lead by completing 5-year’s work in a single year.”
Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb and Provincial Communications Minister Sohaib Ahmed Malik attended the meeting. Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Principal Secretary to CM Sajid Zafar Dal and other relevant officers were also present.
Meanwhile, on the direction of CM hief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb presided over a meeting in which manuscript of Pakistan’s first Climate Change Action Plan and Punjab Climate Change Policy 2020-24 was reviewed.
The Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said that on the direction of CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Climate Action Plan and Punjab Climate Change Policy has been formulated for the first time in the history of Pakistan. Climate Change Action Plan and Punjab Climate Change Policy will prove to be a game changer for the elimination of environment pollution. She said that the role of stakeholders will be laid down in the Climate Change Action Plan and Punjab Climate Change Policy with regard to environment pollution. Every stakeholder will work under the Climate Change Action Plan and Punjab Climate Change Policy. Various projects relating to ‘Green Development’ and ‘Green Energy’ are ongoing in Punjab.
On the direction of CM Punjab, the Punjab government is introducing Rs.100 billion development projects for the improvement of environment. Solar Penal Project is going to be launched for the promotion of renewable green energy. Small dams projects are going to be launched for the barani areas and flood zones. Preparation of famine and heatwave management plan and its implementation will be completed in a span of two years. One lakh healthcare professionals will be imparted training in order to cope up with the confronting health issues on account of adverse climate change effects.
A Flood Management Plan will be constituted for the flood management high risk areas. The task with regard to regulating ground water up to 100 percent under the Climate Change Action Plan and Punjab Climate Change Policy will be carried out.
Marriyum Aurangzeb said that latest ever electric buses and e-bikes are being introduced for the eradication of smog in the province. An effective crackdown against smog emitting vehicles is ongoing swiftly.
