Former president and PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday said the PDM rally in Multan had proved that the political workers were not afraid of baton, bullet and prison, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
He saluted the workers of all political parties and thanked the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) leaders for attending the public meeting which corresponded with the PPP’s foundation day.
In a statement, Zardari said the struggle for the supremacy of the Constitution and rule of law would prove a success and expressed his satisfaction that the youth had come forward to raise the flag of democracy.

The former president reminded that weakening democracy and political parties damaged national solidarity. He added that the agenda of character assassination of political leadership under the guise of accountability adversely affected the country’s repute.
About the current challenges, Zardari noted that the cure of the disease from which the country had been suffering was in implementing the Charter of Democracy [the agreement signed by slain PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif in 2006].
