Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has arrested 16 drug smugglers and recovered 142 kilograms of narcotics from their possession during 13 different operations, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
According to spokesman of ANF, not less than 474 grams of ice have been recovered from luggage of a passenger at Islamabad International Airport. The accused, a resident of Peshawar was leaving for Jeddah.
During an action, Qatar-bound passenger was arrested at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore and 940 grams of ice was recovered from the trolley bag of the accused, a resident of Sargodha.
In another operation at Allama Iqbal Airport, 950 grams of ice was recovered from a passenger's trolley bag. The accused, a resident of Kasur, was leaving for Bahrain.
About 842 grams of heroin hidden in passenger's shoes was recovered at Faisalabad International Airport. The accused, a resident of Muzaffargarh, was leaving for Saudi Arabia.
During the operation, 3 kg of heroin was recovered at the Cargo Services Office located near Railway Station Lahore while 5 kg of ice was recovered from a parcel booked for Australia at a courier office in Rawalpindi.
A quantity of 3 kg of ice hidden in the belongings of the accused resident of Abbottabad was recovered at Faizabad, Islamabad.
ANF authorities recovered 1 kg of cocaine from an accused near Chongi No. 26 Islamabad while 100 narcotic (ecstasy) pills were recovered from the possession of a motorcycle rider near Chongi Amar Sadhu Lahore.
A big quantity of 97 kg and 200 grams hashish was recovered from a truck near Sidharbai Pass, Faisalabad, two accused were arrested while 6 kg heroin and 1 kg ice was recovered from a vehicle near Satyana Road Faisalabad, two accused arrested.
In another operation 13 kg and 200 grams of opium and 6 kg hashish were recovered during a raid at a house in Mohalla Bakhtewala of Gujranullah and two suspects were arrested.
Taking action, ANF recovered 3 kg heroin from a vehicle near Kamilpur Interchange, Sargodha and arrested three accused.
Cases under the Anti-Narcotics Act have been registered against the arrested accused and investigation has been started.
