In a fervent celebration of the Pakistan Peoples Party's (PPP) Foundation Day in Quetta, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the party's Chairman, delivered a powerful speech, igniting political fervour in the arena. The gathering witnessed a moment of symbolic significance as former President Asif Ali Zardari placed his party's pagri (turban) on Bilawal Bhutto, dispelling rumours of discord between the father-son duo.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, addressing the PPP Balochistan chapter workers, Bilawal Bhutto launched a scathing critique against political rivals, particularly targeting the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
Bilawal asserted that the PML-N had transformed into a party of inflation profiteers, and declared, "I am not a seasonal democrat; whether in government or opposition, we always uphold the constitution."
Reflecting on the party's history, Bilawal Bhutto praised the visionary approach of his grandfather, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the founder of PPP. He highlighted Bhutto's commitment to empowering workers and farmers, asserting Pakistan's identity on the global stage, and pioneering a new era in politics.
Referring to the PPP's previous term in government, Bilawal suggested that when Asif Ali Zardari assumed the presidency, he could have sought revenge, but instead, he chose to break the cycle of animosity.
He said Zardari's tenure, focused on inclusivity, economic development, and international collaboration, exemplified by projects like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and wheat exports.
Looking forward, Bilawal emphasized the need for a new political paradigm in Pakistan, emphasizing unity over division. He pledged the PPP's commitment to address economic challenges, unveiling a People's Charter for Economic Development. The charter, he claimed, would tackle poverty through policies benefiting farmers and workers.
The PPP chairman also announced to start 'Youth Card and Mazdor Card' like the Benazir Income Support Program to uplift Pakistani youth and the labour class.
Former President Asif Ali Zardari, in his response, underlined the significance of linguistic unity, urging everyone to consider the language of the people as the language of God. He expressed his determination to make the people of Balochistan the true owners of their land, emphasizing the party's commitment to Balochistan's development.
Zardari acknowledged Bilawal Bhutto's role as a leader for the youth and lauded his perseverance during his time in prison. He shared his dream of seeing a strong and prosperous Pakistan and called on the people to join hands in building a great nation.
The event concluded with both leaders expressing optimism about the PPP's future and victory in upcoming general elections
