Punjab gets 70,000 Chinese vaccine shots

Punjab has been allotted 70,000 vaccine shots from first Chinese corona vaccine consignment reached Islamabad, reported 24NewsHD TV channel quoting its sources.

Sources claimed the process of vaccine transferring from Rawalpindi to Lahore is being underway while vaccine will be stored at cold chain warehouse of Manga Mandi in Lahore.

Punjab Health Minister Yasmin Rashid thanked the Chinese government for providing the coronavirus vaccine.

“The first batch of corona vaccine has reached Islamabad and Punjab province will get the vaccine this evening or tomorrow morning,” Dr Yasmeen Rashid told at a press talk in Lahore.

She certified that corona vaccine will firstly be provided to the frontline health workers.

The health minister said China has always been friends of Pakistan as the first consignment of Chinese Aid has reached Islamabad.

“The vaccine will be distributed as per the NCOC distribution formulae among the registered health workers,” Yasmin said.

Yasmin said other vaccines are also coming by February.

Captain Retired Usman said in phase-1, the Primary and Secondary Health Department set up189 Adult Vaccination Centers equipped with digital records where around 0.4 million health workers are enrolled so far and more are being registered.

“We will get the second dose of the vaccine in 21 days,” Punjab Health Secretary said.

Earlier, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong said, “We are ready for our iron brother! Happy to learn that the Chinese Government donated vaccines have been loaded to the special plane sent by Pakistan.”

“Proud to be the first country to contribute to the vaccination plan of Pakistan,” the Chinese envoy said.

Earlier, Planning Minister Asad Umar said the vaccination process in Pakistan will be started in the next few days.
