The Sindh transport department on Wednesday launched Pink People’s Bus Service exclusively for women in Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Pink People’s Bus service has been launched especially for women with modern facilities.
There will be six buses being operated on the first route of Pink Bus service which will be from Model Colony to Shahrah-e-Faisal Tower.
The driver of the bus will be male while the conductor will be a female.
Sindh Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said “The bus service will run after every 20 minutes in morning and evening during office hours and in normal hours it will run after every one hour.”
“The decision had been made after keeping in mind the travel problems of working women”, said the Transport Minister.
PPP leader Sharmila Faruqui drives Pink Bus
Sharmila Faruqui, the leader of Pakistan’s People’s Party (PPP) Wednesday drove the Pink People’s Bus service reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
Sharmila Faruqui by driving the Pink Bus proved that women can easily drive this huge bus.
She said that the seat of the bus was very comfortable and she enjoyed the ride a lot.
“I am the first female driver of this bus service and I want to run this bus on Shahrah-e-Faisal”, said Sharmila Faruqui.
She maintained that within a month they will arrange female drivers for the bus.
Further she said that women are now educated so they can do everything, there is nothing that they cannot do.
