Federal Minister Planning for Development Ahsan Iqbal while rejecting the possibility of a technocrat government has warned political support is necessary for economic reforms, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Taking to the media in Shakargarh on Sunday, he said the technocrat government cannot be successful and technocrats can only provide support to the government through their expertise.

Senior Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz leader Ahsan Iqbal said some technocrats are ready to become ministers and advisers in every era and they are spreading the rumors of a technocrat government.  “Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf ruled the country for nine years with the help of technocrats and some people again are spreading hoaxes of the same styled government in the country.”

He held the administration of chief minister Pervez Elahi responsible for the problems faced by the farmers in Punjab. Farmers are facing severe problems due to hoarding of urea, he disclosed.

PML-N General Secretary Ahsan Iqbal said the PTI government laid the foundation of destruction and devaluation in the country.

He said that comprehensive reforms will have to be done to get out of the economic crisis. “It is imperative to implement the financial agreements of Imran Khan’s period,” he added.

The minister said that exports are needed to restore the economy of the country.
