The commission, constituted to record statements in the Faizabad sit-in case, on Monday summoned former prime minister and PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Quoting its sources, the channel reported that the commission had asked Shehbaz to appear before it on Wednesday (January 3, 2024) and record his statement.
The commission is due to submit its detailed report to the Supreme Court (SC) on January 22.
The commission earlier, besides others, had also summoned ex-DG ISI Lt General (r) Faiz Hameed, but he did not show up, prompting it to issue summons for him again.
During the tumultuous period of the Faizabad sit-in, Shehbaz held the position of Chief Minister of Punjab.
The caretaker government had formed the inquiry commission in November, 2023 to fix responsibility and implement the court’s decision in the case.
