In a recent incident near Dera Ismail Khan, reports clarified that there was no attack on Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman's convoy.

According to the initial reports that the vehicle in which Fazl was riding along with his convoy suddenly came under gunfire attack  at the Yarik Interchange, Dera Ismail Khan.

However, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Nasir Mahmood revealed that the assailants targeted the police checkpost near Yarik Interchange, not at Maulana Fazlur Rahman's convoy.

He said that Maulana Fazlur Rahman was not present at the location during the incident, dispelling any misconceptions regarding his safety.

The police promptly responded to the attackers, who fled the scene after encountering a robust counter-action, the RPO added.

Secretary Interior has taken note of the incident and ordered a detailed report on the matter. He asserted that no leniency would be granted to any elements aiming to spread chaos and disorder in the country.

Addressing the security concerns during the ongoing electoral campaign, the Ministry of Interior spokesperson stated that comprehensive security measures would be provided to political activists.

The spokesperson emphasized the commitment to taking every possible step to ensure peace, security, and protection for the public.

As part of the broader efforts, the Ministry of Interior affirmed its dedication to maintaining law and order, thwarting any attempts to jeopardize the safety of citizens.
