Pakistani, Italian premiers ponder war against COVID-19 on phone

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and Italian Premier Giuseppe Conte Monday deliberated upon the ongoing war on COVID-19 and its aftermaths. 

In a telephonic conversation, PM Imran expressed condolence over the loss of lives from coronavirus in Italy and praised Giuseppe’s government steps to stem the virus spread.

The Pakistani premier shared safety steps to save lives with his Italian counterpart during the call and strategy to cope with health and financial challenges. The duo expressed resolve to continue with struggle to save lives from the novel virus across the globe.

Pakistan has so far confirmed 72,460 deaths from COVID-19 and the reported tally reached 233,000 in Italy.

The duo held telephonic talks days after Imran briefed the world about Pak efforts against the deadly bug at Financing for Development (FFD) in Era of COVID-19 and Beyond, hosted by  the Prime Ministers of Canada and Jamaica and the UN Secretary General. Selected state heads were invited.

Apart from Prime Minister Imran Khan, the Presidents of France, South Africa, Kazakhstan, the Prime Ministers of United Kingdom, Japan, Norway, Italy and Ireland, the German Chancellor and the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, addressed at the event.
