Flays government’s way of legislation through invoking ordinances

Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that his party would oppose the passage of anti-people budget from the parliament, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Bilawal was holding a meeting with his party’s Senate members at the Parliament House in Islamabad on Tuesday. They discussed a strategy to oppose the passage of anti-people budget in the parliament. They also discussed strategy in the backdrop of government’s proposed legislation measures. 

The PPP chairman also said that his party would oppose privatization of government entities. 

Bilawal was briefed about the promulgation of ordinance regarding Pakistan media development authority. He called upon the senators to oppose every legislation aimed at stifling freedom of speech. 

He said government’s strategy to run affairs through invoking ordinances while keeping parliament at bay, was lamentable.

Later, while talking to the media, Bilawal demanded of the government to bring the assailants of journalist Asad Ali Toor to book. He promised to raise his voice against torture on Toor in Islamabad. He said his party would raise this matter in the parliament. 

He was of the view that if ‘we do not support journalist community now, no one would support us in future’. 

He said that Mr Toor must present his case to the human rights committee. He said truth could not be gagged through persecution.

Bilawal also mentioned attacks on journalists Absar Alam and Matiullah Jan. 

He termed Prime Minister Imran Khan’s claim about freedom of the press was a blatant lie.
