The fire that erupted at a cotton factory in Multan has now been completely extinguished after a 48-hour operation by Rescue 1122 and Pakistan Army, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Multan Commissioner Javed Akhtar Mehmood said that spinning mills, weaving mills and power plants have been saved from the damage due to the on-time operation. He visited the burnt godown and lauded the effective action of the Pakistan Army and Rescue-1122.
According to Rescue 1122 officials, the fire burnt the stocks of lint worth millions of rupees. The cotton factory is located at Khanewal Road in Multan.
The commissioner said Rescue 1122 staff and Pakistan Army helicopters remained busy round-the-clock to extinguish the fire and there was a human casualty. He said he had ordered inspections of sensitive fire alarms in all factories.
“Fire is completely under control and now the cooling process is underway,” the commissioner said.
The District Emergency Officer said that goods from the cotton factory is being shifted to other safe places.
