Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur has issued directives to devise a sustainable model to utilize social security funds properly.
The CM has decided to arrange a mass marriage programme of 4000 deserving women and directed the authorities concerned to complete homework at the earliest.
Under the programme, a Rs200,000 grant will be provided to each woman, he said while presiding over a meeting at the CM House on Friday.
The CM has directed the authorities to collect the actual data of deserving women from all the districts and to provide a quota in proportion to the population of each district so that the decision regarding the mass marriage programme would be implemented transparently.
“We need to have an efficient scrutiny mechanism to ensure that only deserving girls would be selected for that programme,” he said.
He made it clear that political recommendations or personal likes and dislikes would not be tolerated in the disbursement of social security funds.
He stressed: "Each and every penny of Zakat funds must be spent on the wellbeing of needy and poor people, by giving priority to orphans, widows and persons with disabilities."
He directed ensuring the representation of at least three women members in every forum of Zakat committees.
On this occasion, the participants of the meeting agreed with the proposal for the creation of a philanthropist contribution fund.
The CM asked the authorities concerned to bring the draft with the necessary amendments.
He directed that elected public representatives will visit the “Panahgahs” and other social welfare centres and submit reports of facilities being provided to these centres.
“These segments deserve special attention, and we need to give them a sense of trust and ownership,” he said.
