Another minor on Sunday was mauled critically by stray dogs in Village Maan in the suburbs of Kasur, day after a teenager was eaten by a pack of the canines in Phularwan area of Sargodha.
According to health officials and police, five-year-old Usman was playing in front of his house when a pack of dogs attacked him. The canines badly injured the minor by eating flesh from different parts of his body.
Family members rushed for the minor’s rescue as soon as they heard his alarms.
They scared away the dogs and called Rescue 1122, which rushed the minor to General Hospital.
According to doctors at the hospital, the condition of the minor is critical as he has been bitten by the dogs at 13 different places of the body. The minor has been kept in the Intensive Care Unit to save his life.
Meanwhile, the Lahore district administration and the health department failed to cull the rising canine population and provide dog bite (rabies) vaccine to victims. According to health sources, as many as 18 persons were critically injured by stray dogs in different areas of Shahdara alone. The victims are being treated at a government healthcare facility.
On Saturday, a teenager was killed by the stray dogs in Phularwan area in the outskirts of Sargodha city. Thirteen-year-old Saim Ali was on way to school when the dogs mauled him. Locals found his body later which was unrecognizable.
