In order to cut down government expenditures, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday ordered setting up passport counters at all National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) centres in the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Presiding over a meeting in Islamabad, the prime minister stressed the need for facilitating the citizens in getting their computerized national identity cards (CNICs) and passports.
Similarly, the premier ordered increasing the number of NADRA’s mobile vans so that the CNICs could be provided to the people at their doorstep.
The meeting was told that the NADRA was going to introduce a new mobile phone application so that people could get their CNICs renewed without leaving their homes.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Interior Rana Sanaullah, Minister for Education Rana Tanveer Hussain, NADRA chairman, Director General Immigration and Passports, and concerned senior government officials were in attendance.
