Former prime minister Imran Khan has unleashed a maelstrom of allegations against his political rivals saying the ruling Sharifs are involved in billions of rupees corruption cases expressing his fear that they will remove the record of their venality logged by the anti-graft watchdog - NAB, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a presser in Islamabad on Sunday, Khan said that he was publishing a whitepaper against the current rulers on their corruption charges. He said that both the PML-N and PPP governments were toppled twice in the past on the charges of corruption.
He maintained that when former president Gen ® Pervez Musharraf gave them the first NRO, then it had come to the fore how much damage was done.
He claimed that his government had not made any corruption cases against them adding that all corruption cases had already been launched against them.
He was of the view that during the PTI reign, the National Accountability Bureau was independent. He feared that after coming into power, this corrupt coterie would vanish all the criminal record against them.
He held that it was very unfortunate and ironic for them that their involvement was revealed out of the blue in the Panama Leaks.
Mr Khan said that during the whole PTI stint, the Sharif family kept on hurling threats that their turn would also come when they would get power.
He alleged that the Sharif family had been looting Pakistan for the last 30 years. He said that they laundered their loot money abroad. He maintained that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Hamza Shehbaz and Salman Shehbaz were facing billions of rupees corruption cases.
“It was due to their corruption that the country is facing deficit,” he added.
Taking a dig at PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz, Mr Khan alleged that after altering Lahore’s Master Plan, she purchased Rs800 million worth landed property.
He said that Maryam was handed down an 8-year jail term and 2 million pound fine by the court.
The former premier feared that PML-N and PPP would eliminate corruption cases against them and they would give themselves NRO 2.
The former prime minister also defended former First Lady’s friend Farah Gogi saying Farah had been in the real estate business for the last 20 years.
“NAB must answer whether there should be a case against Farah or not. She is being implicated only because she is a friend of Bushra Bibi”, he added.
The PTI chief denounced those who were hurling allegations of raising anti-PM slogans at Masjid-e-Nabvi in Medina.
“Shame on those who are accusing us of orchestrating this vile thing,” Khan said in a stern voice.
