Islooites over the moon to mark ‘Cycling Sunday’

Islamabad residents marked the Cycling Sunday as they spent their offday with an unconventional activity at mass level that was organized by the United Nations Development Program, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Dr Fehmida Mirza inaugurated the Cycling Sunday event held in collaboration with Urban Innovation, PkUrbanplatform, Islamabad Capital Territory Admiration, UNDP Pakistan along with other partners.
On the occasion, Dr Fehmida Mirza said, "It is essential for mitigating climate change that cycling is promoted by CDA as an urban mobility option."
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Hamza Shafqaat praising the Cycling Sunday said; “Excellent event today. Hats off to Naveed Iftikhar for the arrangements. Everyone followed the COVID SOPs. Hope to have this every first Sunday of the month. Thank you”

Urban Platform said: “How cities can stimulate the use of bicycle? The answer is, by extending cycling facilities, the recognition and acceptance by their road users, it can be enhanced .Join UNDP in Pakistan's PkUrbanplatform.”
“By favouring cycling in Pakistan cities, the use of private cars can be decreased, we need to support non-motorized modes of transportation,” the Urban Platform further said.
