China, Punjab join hands to deal with smog

Chinese Consul General Zhao Shiren met Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday, 24NewsHD TV channel reports.
During the meeting, anti-smog measures came under discussion.
The decision to get technical support from the Beijing Academy of Science and Technology to deal with smog was taken.
An air quality monitoring system will be installed in Lahore in collaboration with a Chinese company.
The two sides agreed on immediate contacts of environmental experts from Punjab and China. The meeting also took up a proposal to bring pandas to the Lahore Zoo.
Mohsin Naqvi said the government is working on a long-term policy to eliminate smog.
He added China's tourist police model will be replicated in Punjab and stressed the need to take advantage of its expertise for development in different fields including agricultural research and water management.
He expressed his gratitude to the Chinese Consul General and Consulate for the successful visit to China, saying their hospitality will be remembered for long
The Chinese Consul General praised the Punjab government’s steps to eradicate smog.
Initiatives including the use of zigzag technology in brick kilns in Punjab are commendable, he added.
The Chinese envoy praised Punjab for establishing a diplomatic enclave in Lahore
