October 1, 2020 12:12 AM

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on Wednesday approved an increase of 32 paisa per unit in the power tariff.

According to the ECC declaration, this increase in power tariff is from November 2019 to January 2020 under the head of quarterly adjustment.

The ECC also approved an increase in gas tariff. According to the declaration, domestic consumers and nanbais will be exempt from the increase in gas tariff. For commercial consumers, one-third of the GIDC would be added to the gas tariff. Commercial consumers of the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited will face gas load-shedding in the coming winter. Gas load shedding will be carried out on Saturdays and Sundays every month.

Also, the ECC decreased the commission from two per cent to 0.75 per cent for those importing wheat.
