Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar on Tuesday announced a financial aid of Rs350 million for the rain-ravaged people of Karachi and interior Sindh, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a joint press conference at Governor House Karachi with Sindh Governor Imran Ismael, Sarwar said Punjab province will provide Rs350 million during the tough times amid heavy monsoon rains.

“I have come to Karachi to express solidarity with the people of Sindh who are our brothers,” the Punjab governor said.

Sharing about how the ration will be distributed, Ch Sarwar said it will be distributed among needy people through Punjab and Sindh non-governmental organizations (NGOs). He added Punjab will distribute 0.1 million ration bags among the rain-affected people of Sindh.

Responding to a question about the coronavirus pandemic, the Punjab governor said “Pakistani authorities, administration, law enforcement agencies and especially the people work in tandem to contain the coronavirus spread.”

The Punjab governor also announced the provision of loans on easy conditions to the rain-hit people.

On his turn, Sindh Governor Imran Ismael thanked his counterpart from Punjab for supporting Karachi and Sindh in difficult times.

Imran Ismael said, “Prime Minister Imran Khan cares for Karachi and a new plan for the economic hub of the country will soon be unveiled which will include the appointment of a neutral administrator for the city that would be acceptable to all political and non-political entities of the megacity.”

He said all the stakeholders should be on board when Prime Minister Imran Khan will visit Karachi. “Whatever the prime minister is doing, he is doing has nothing to do with the National Finance Commission (NFC) award.”

He said he will visit Badin city on Wednesday with Punjab Governor Ch Sarwar.

The Sindh governor said that Karachi nullahs are being encroached and now all the responsibility lies on the Sindh government.
