The district administration has decided to open the spillways of Rawal Dam as the water level of the dam reached 1752 feet due to rains, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
According to the district administration, spillways at Rawal Dam will be opened at 4 pm today.
In this regard, an alert has been issued by the district administrator, warning people to avoid going to urban watercourses as precautionary measures.
Residents of low-lying areas ensure implementation of precautionary measures, District Administration advised.
In case of any emergency, immediately contact 16 and livestock should be moved to a safe place in time, district administration further advised.
The district administration said that strict monitoring of rivers and bridges will continue and preparation of emergency measures to deal with the flood situation have been completed.
Spillways of Hub Dam opened as dam filled after rains
Meanwhile, the spillways of Hub Dam were opened when the water level reached 339 feet after the rains in Sindh and Balochistan, which filled it.
Officials said excess water from Hub Dam is being carried to the sea through Hub River.
The area around the Hub River has been evacuated to avoid loss of life and property, officials said.
The two-year water requirement of Karachi and the Hub City will be met after the dam is filled, officials further said.
Officials said that Hub Dam provides 100 million gallons of water to Karachi and 60 million gallons of water to Hub City.
