The first meeting of the 26-member parliamentary committee on coronavirus pandemic will be held on April 6 (Monday). Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaisar will chair the meeting.
The meeting will be held at 12:00 PM in the Constitution Room of the Parliament House while the notices in this regard have already been issued.
Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh and Advisor to PM on Commerce and Industry Abdul Razak Dawood will brief the parliamentary committee about the impacts of coronavirus pandemic on the country’s economy and on the measures to be taken to revive it.
Special Assistant to PM on Health Dr Zafar Mirza and Chairman National Disaster Management Authority Lieutenant General Muhammad Afzal will brief the committee with regards to the situation arising out of the health crisis and the steps taken for the relief of the people. As per the details, the parliamentary committee will periodically review, monitor and oversee issues related to coronavirus disease and its impact on the economy.
Earlier, the National Assembly speaker had formed the 26-member parliamentary committee with the consultation of the government and opposition.
The parliamentary committee is headed by Speaker NA Asad Qaisar with 12 parliamentary leaders from National Assembly and 13 from the Senate.
The committee comprises Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Chaudhry Tariq Bashir Cheema, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Maulana Asad Mehmood, Khalid Hussain Magsi, Nawabzada Shah Zain Bughti, Amir Haider Khan Hoti, Sardar Muhammad Akthar Jan Mengal, Sardar Ghaus Bux Khan Mehar, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, Anwarul Haq Kakar, Aurangzeb Khan, Dr Jehanzeb Jamaldini, Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo, Molana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Ms Sherry Rehman, Muhammad Ali Khan Saif, Muhammad Usman Khan Kakar, Mushahid Ullah Khan, Senator Shibli Faraz, Senator Sitara Ayaz, Sirajul Haq and Syed Muzafar Hussain Shah.
