Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) has appealed to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Umar Ata Bandial to ensure that voting on the opposition’s no-trust motion in the National Assembly takes place according to the constitution, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

In its declaration, the PBC has expressed the fear that any delay in voting on the no-confidence motion may harm democracy.

The PBC has also expressed the fear that tensions between the government and the opposition may give an excuse to non-democratic forces to intervene. “Therefore in order to ensure the rule of law, the CJP is requested to take notice of the situation and ensure completion of the process in the light of the constitution,” reads the declaration.
