Rosamund Pike has shared a hilariously awkward moment from the set of Die Another Day, revealing that she accidentally waxed Pierce Brosnan’s chest during a steamy scene.

The actress, who was just 22 years old when she made her film debut as Miranda Frost in the 2002 James Bond film, recently opened up about the experience on David Tennant’s podcast. Starring opposite Brosnan—who was 48 at the time—Pike’s character seduced 007 in an opulent, swan-shaped bed inside the movie’s famed ice palace.

Despite the scene looking effortlessly glamorous on screen, Pike admitted that filming it was anything but. She recalled discovering the body tape and nipple covers used for modesty during intimate scenes and was shocked when she realized that every embrace seemed to be pulling out Brosnan’s chest hair.

“I was so mortified,” she said. “I thought, Oh my God, he’s so brave, and I’m pulling off his chest hair with every embrace.” However, after a few takes, she realized that it wasn’t Brosnan’s chest hair at all—but rather, loose fur from the bed’s rug.

Despite the 26-year age gap between her and Brosnan, Pike described him as a complete gentleman and an absolute pleasure to work with.

This wasn’t the only unusual moment during her Bond experience. Previously, she revealed that during her audition process, she was asked to strip down to her underwear on camera. Speaking in 2018, she recalled how she refused to do so, thinking, “If they’re going to see me in my underwear, they better give me the job.”

She also confessed in an interview with W Magazine that, before landing the role, she had never actually seen a James Bond film. For one of her auditions, she borrowed a ball gown from her opera singer mother, only to find that many of the other actresses had opted for leather outfits, making her feel out of place. The experience, she admitted, made her confront the reality of being viewed as an "object" in Hollywood—something she found both fascinating and unsettling.

While Pike has since built an impressive career with films like Gone Girl and Saltburn, her early days as a Bond Girl certainly left her with some unforgettable memories.
