Punjab CM visits flood-hit areas; distributes cheques

Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvaiz Elahi Tuesday visited the flood-affected areas of Taunsa Rajanpur, Basti Chhatani, reported 24NewsHd TV channel.

The Chief Minister met the flood victims and expressed his sympathy and consoled them.

Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvaiz Elahi recited Fatiha for those who died during the recent floods.

He also distributed relief cheques worth Rs0.8m each to the flood victims.

On the occasion, he said that no one would be allowed to keep any flood victim from his due right.

He said the damage to crops and houses will also be compensated soon.

He said they have surveyed the whole area and directed the PDMA and other departments to expedite work to devise short-term and long-term plans to avoid the adversity.

Criticising PM Shehbaz Sharif, he said Shehbaz stopped public welfare projects and the cost of development projects has been increased when projects were stopped.

He ordered to start the work on Rs20billion-allocated development fund immediately.

Punjab CM said Shadan Lund food centre and wheat flooded incident will be investigated and vowed to resettle the flood victims beyond political affiliation.

Elahi said the survey process will be made transparent.

Later, he distributed Rs0.8million cheques to heirs of 21 men, women and children.

Assembly members Sardar Muhammad Khan Leghari, Khwaja Shiraz Mehmood, Muhammad Hanif Patafi, Khwaja Daud Soleimani, Sardar Saifuddin Khan Khosa, Sardar Mohiuddin Khan Khosa, Sardar Muhammad Saifuddin Khan Khosa, Commissioner Dera Ghazi Khan and related officials were also present on this occasion.
