Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has issued a show-cause notice to ex-party member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly (MPA) from Mardan Malik Shaukat over violation of the party’s policy, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
In the notice, bearing signatures of PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan, Shaukat has been asked to explain within two days as to why he had attended meeting of the new party; otherwise action would be taken against him as per the party’s policy.
Several PTI leaders left the party following the incidents of violence on May 9. They either defected to the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) or Pervez Khattak-led PTI Parliamentarians leading to action against them by the party’s high command.
In one such action taken two days ago, PTI terminated the basic membership of 22 leaders, including former Punjab chief minister Usman Buzdar and ex-federal minister Khusro Bakhtiar, who had left the party and either preferred to quit politics or joined other political parties.
These leaders were informed of PTI’s decision by the party’s secretary general Omar Ayub Khan through a letter issued on July 31.
The party asked these leaders to “refrain” from using the party’s name and warned that if the advice was not heeded then they will face legal action.
