Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the government is striving for resolving the energy crisis in the country as nobody is ready to invest for electricity generation, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing the federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad on Friday, Shehbaz Sharif disclosed that China was the only country which has cooperated with Pakistan for defusing the power crisis.
“The government is trying to settle the problems regarding capacity payment and has written a letter to China on IPPs issue,” Shehbaz Sharif said and added “Without lowering electricity tariff industry cannot be run.”
The prime minister said inexpensive electricity was the joint agenda of PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari and allied parties.
He said the country would face numerous crises if power sector and the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) were not put on the right path.
Shehbaz said the incumbent government is fully cognizant of the problems being faced by the people and making sincere efforts to provide relief to them. He said the government has taken a number of short- and medium-term initiatives for resolution of problems particularly to deal with energy crisis and hefty electricity bills.
The prime minister said the government will not succumb to any political pressure in making its sincere efforts to provide relief to the people.
