Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal has maintained that the ruling party would not have any problem if the Army opts to hold talks with former prime minister Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

In an interview with Voice of America (VOA), Ahsan Iqbal the armed forces won’t be thinking to interfere in politics again. “On what subject the PTI founder will hold talks with the military,” the minister questioned.

Ahsan Iqbal said whether a ban is imposed on the PTI or not, it is crystal clear that the party’s politics is directly attacking the interests of the state. “There is no room for the PTI in Pakistan keeping in view its present brand of politics,” he added.

Responding to a question, Ahsan Iqbal said the PTI first change its attitude and seek apology from public and state institutions. “The government does not harbour a desire to slap a ban on any party. When it would be suitable, institutions will take a decision regarding banning the PTI,” he added.

“They can certainly enter in the national mainstream if they change their behaviour,” Ahsan Iqbal said and added “Even the USA and the UK will not allow any political party to play its role with this brand of the politics,” he added.

“It would not be a service to Pakistan if court decisions create instability and uncertainty,” he said while replying to a question.
