The government of Pakistan has formally lodged a complaint with the British Broadcasting Corporation’s (BBC) management for giving inaccurate information about the operation conducted by the law-enforcement agencies against the PTI protestors at Islamabad’s Red Zone on the night between November 26 and November 27, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

Underscoring the need for objective reporting, upholding journalistic values and emphasizing that the media had a key role to play in ensuring transparency and accountability, sources in the government told 24News TV channel that the BBC during its coverage of the PTI’s protest said that dozens of people had died due to firing.

These figures, which the news channel gave in its three reports, were completely baseless and misleading, they said, and added that the government had asked it to admit its mistake and correct it.
