Punjab Health Ministers inaugurate Nutrition Stabilization Centre at FJMU

The Provisional Health Ministers of Punjab, Mr. Khawaja Salman Rafique and Mr. Khawaja Imran Nazir, along with Vice Chancellor FJMU Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal and Representative from World Health Organization (WHO) Ms. Alan Thom, inaugurated the newly renovated Nutrition Stabilization Centre at FJMU/ SGRH Lahore with the support of WHO for the management of severely malnourished children with complications. 

On this occasion, Dr. Yahya Gulzar, Dr. Irfan, Dr. Khalil, Medical Superintendent SGRH Dr. Arif Iftikhar, Prof. Bilquis Shabbir, Prof. Nadeem, Prof. Naveed Akbar Hotiana, Dr. Rameeza Kaleem, and a large number of faculty members participated.
The provincial health ministers visited the Centre, met the innocent children suffering from malnutrition, and their parents.

Mr. Khawaja Salman Rafique thanked the World Health Organization for its support in setting up Nutrition Stabilization Centre at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. He said that a large number of our innocent children are suffering from malnutrition in Pakistan, especially in Punjab. The Nutrition Stabilization Centre of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital will provide the best treatment facilities to innocent children suffering from malnutrition. Punjab Government is bringing a very important program for malnourished children.

Mr. Khawaja Imran Nazir said that despite producing the maximum food in Punjab, our children are still suffering from malnutrition. While addressing, he said that a technical committee of experts comprising from IMNRCH and WHO will be formed. The committee will give a road map for the next 5 years to improve the efficiency of Stabilization Centres.

In this context, trained HR will also be provided. Food supplements are being provided in 56 stabilization Centres of our hospitals to address malnutrition in children. The vision of Chief Minister Punjab Mohtarma Maryam Nawaz is to establish a healthy society. Every year five lacs of children are being screened for malnutrition.

On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal offered a special prayer for the prosperity of beloved country Pakistan, ailing humanity, and the development of the institution.
