The price of one kilogram of sugar has soared to Rs79 after an increase of Rs2.
Increase in sugar prices in different parts of the country comes at the heels of the wheat crisis.

Presently, the average retail price of sugar is Rs79 per kilogram. The government has reportedly approved the import of 0.3 million tonnes of sugar to control the surging price.
Ministry of Industry and Production has recommended a ban on export of the commodity and advised the import of above-said quantity to maintain a fair reserve level.
Ministry of Commerce was directed to approach ECC for discontinuation of the export quota of 1.1 million tons of sugar.
According to the International Sugar Organization, the international
