Federal Ombudsman Kashmala Tariq’s son Azlan Khan was granted interim bail after the luxury four-wheel drive he was allegedly driving crashed into a base model car in Islamabad on Monday night, killing four people at the scene and leaving two others injured on Srinagar Highway.

Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Sohail granted interim bail to Azlan and stopped the police from arresting him in the G-11 road accident case. The court also directed the accused to submit surety bonds of Rs50,000 before granting bail until February 16.

The first information report lodged with Islamabad’s Ramna Police Station says five men, who came from Mansehra to Islamabad to take an exam for the Anti-Narcotics Force, were travelling in a Mehran, which was hit by a Lexus at the G-11 traffic signal.

A motorcyclist was also hit and injured, the FIR said, adding that driver of the Lexus was son of Federal Ombudswoman for Protection of Women against Harassment Kashmala Tariq.

The victims were rescued by people who had gathered at the scene of the car crash and were taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). Four of the passengers in the car expired while one, who is the complainant in the FIR, was injured.
