The security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation to thwart an infiltration attempt by terrorists near the Pak-Afghan border in Lower Dir on Monday.

During an exchange of fire, three terrorists were killed and later identified as Abid, resident of Swat; Yousaf Khan, resident of Swat and Abdul Sattar, resident of Mardan. A large quantity of weapons, ammunition and grenades was found on the dead terrorists, says a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), media wing of the Pakistan Army.

The ISPR says these terrorists were involved in several target killing incidents in Swat in 2019. These terrorists planned to infiltrate and target notables inside Pakistan, but they were engaged and killed before they could execute their plans.

Locals of the area praised the security forces for the timely action and assured them of their full support to defeat the menace of terrorism in the area.
