Transporters’ faction Mini Mazda Association while rejecting the hike in prices of petroleum products staged a sit-in protest at Babu Sabu Interchange of Motorway in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The road from Chowk Yatim Khana to Babu Sabu interchange has been closed as a large number of protesters belonging to mini-Mazda association and other transponders reached the protest site on Tuesday.

The protesters alleged that the government, customs, police, and transport department have failed to resolve the issues of transports.

The Mini Mazda Association members demanded the withdrawal of the increase in prices of petroleum, closure of toll plazas and alleged unfair challans by the traffic police.

The worst traffic jam has been reported from the protest site.  SP Traffic City Division, DSP Shahdara, DSP Saddar and DSP Ichhra were present on the protest spot.

A heavy contingent of traffic wardens has also been deployed to ensure alternative routes for smooth traffic flow.

Chief Traffic Officer CTO Syed Hammad Abi said traffic has been diverted from Thokar and Islamabad Motorways to Saggian Interchange.
