Met Office predicts windstorm in Karachi, rain in Lahore

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasted windstorm and rain that may hit Sindh-Makran coastal areas possibly causing damage to vulnerable structures along the coastal belt, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday. 

Sea conditions will be rough during this period and fishermen are advised to remain careful amid a weather system that is heading towards the Sindh-Makran coastal belt and it will prevail in the area from February 2 to 3.

Forecasters said that due to the weather system, the temperature is expected to fall by 3 to 5℃ in Sindh and Balochistan.

In Lahore, cold waves persisted in the metropolis and authorities recorded air quality at 191 at the index. A mix of sun and cloud weather continued in Lahore

On Thursday (tomorrow) rain-wind/thunderstorm (with snow over hills and isolated hailstorm) is expected in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, northeast Punjab, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan. 

Windstorm/dust raising winds are expected in coastal areas of Sindh including Karachi, coastal belt & central parts of Balochistan and south Punjab.

The weather remained cold and dry in most parts of the country, while very cold in hilly areas. Wednesday’s Lowest Minimum Temperature (°C): Leh -14, Kalam -11, Gupis -08, Skardu, Astore -06, Malam Jabba, Hunza, Pulwama, Baramulla -04, Parachinar, Bagrote, Shupiyan, Anantnag -03, Chitral, Rawalakot, Srinagar -02, Dir and Drosh -01.

National Highways and Motorways Police also indicated to the coming tourists that Murree hills will receive snowfall and they should plan their trip as per the weather conditions.
