US dollar recovers loss against Pakistani rupee

The US dollar on Wednesday again demonstrated its often-repeated performance of starting the day slowly and later hitting back at the opponent. Also on Wednesday the greenback first lost eight paisas against the rupee but later recovered the loss and scored a meagre two-paisa gain, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The US dollar first shed eight paisas against the Pakistani rupee in the interbank trading and was traded at Rs176.35 but later turned the tables on rupee and gained two paisas and was being traded at Rs176.45.

The greenback was traded at Rs176.43 yesterday. And on Monday, the exchange rate of the dollar was Rs176.72. 

The money market apparently awaiting the outcome of the IMF board meeting scheduled to be held today (Feb 2) regarding the revival of Pakistan’s loan programme. The IMF Executive Board meeting is taking place for Pakistan's sixth review under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF). Earlier, the IMF meeting was scheduled to be held on Jan 28 but it was delayed on the request of Pakistan as the SBP bill was not approved by the upper house by that time.
