Four members of Balochistan Levies and a civilian were martyred late Saturday night in a powerful bomb blast in Dera Ismail Khan, where they had gone to investigate a truck theft, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
The Balochistan Levies personnel from Pishin had travelled to KP city of DI Khan where they were targeted in Daraban area, near Balochistan’s border district of Dherani.
The fifth victim was the owner of the truck which was stolen from Pishin area of Khanzai a few days ago and was recovered DI Khan.
The security personnel were going to DI Khan to bring back the truck and arrest the culprits, but they were targeted as the bomb blast hit their vehicle even before they entered the DI Khan city.
Pishin Assistant Commissioner Karezat confirmed the incident, adding that a Levies officer was among the deceased. He said the Levies personnel were on their way to recover a stolen truck when their vehicle was targeted.
The vehicle caught fire after the blast, and all five people, including the four Levies personnel, were burned to death.
The DI Khan police were investigating the incident.
