IHC declares appeals regarding LB polls admissible
Court also issues notices to JI, PTI and others for Jan 9

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Monday declared the intra-court appeals of the election commission and the federal government against the single-bench decision of the court regarding local bodies’ elections admissible, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The court also issued notices to Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and others for January 9.
It also issued a notice on the petition for suspending the court decision.
Earlier, the IHC had reserved judgement on the admissibility of the intra-court appeals of the election commission and the federal government regarding local bodies’ elections.
IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Saman Rafat heard the case.
Mian Rauf Advocate appeared before the court on behalf of the election commission.
It is to be noted here that the IHC had ordered to hold local bodies’ elections in the federal capital on December 31, 2022.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the federal government had filed intra-court appeals against the order of the court.
