FIA Gujranwala nabs two in trafficking cases

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Gujranwala Zone has intensified its actions against human smugglers, leading to the arrest of two suspects, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.


 This operation was conducted under the directives of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi aiming at to curbing illegal human trafficking activities.


The suspects, identified as Amir Butt and Iftikhar Ahmed, were apprehended during the crackdown. Both individuals were involved in the illegal trafficking of innocent citizens to foreign countries, exploiting them for financial gain.


Amir Butt was found guilty of swindling Rs 2.2 million from a citizen with the promise of illegally transporting him to Italy via Libya.


In collaboration with his accomplices, Butt attempted to send the victim and several others to Italy by boat.


Tragically, the boat met with an accident, resulting in multiple deaths and disappearances. Butt had been on the FIA Gujrat Circle's most-wanted list since 2023.


Iftikhar Ahmed, the second suspect, extorted Rs 680,000 from a citizen, promising to smuggle him into Greece illegally.


Ahmed failed to fulfill his promise and subsequently went into hiding.


His actions left the victim stranded and financially ruined.


The suspects were detained and an investigation has been launched to uncover further details.


 The FIA spokesperson confirmed the arrests and reiterated the agency's dedication to eradicating human trafficking.
