Mutahidda Naan Roti Association President Aftab Gul has threatened to increase prices of naan and roti from June 5 if the government doesn’t decrease flour price.
According to the association chief, the government has never taken the stakeholders into confidence in such decision-makings.
Roti is being sold for Rs6 and naan for Rs10. Gul said if the government fails to meet the demand by the deadline roti would be sold for Rs10 and naan for Rs15.
Last year too, the prices of roti surged when the government increased gas tariff and flour prices. The increase in prices was reverted after PM Imran Khan ordered his team to get the issue resolved.
Then information aide Firdous held a press conference after the cabinet meeting held to take up the issue. The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet was also called to reduce the gas tariff and flour.
