Punjab Health Minister visits King Edward Medical University

Minister for Health Punjab Kh. Salman Rafique Thursday visited King Edward Medical University, Lahore.

Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, Vice Chancellor, welcomed him. He briefed the honorable guest about the ongoing and accomplished academic, research and development projects of the University.

He highlighted the services rendered by faculty members of KEMU and its attached seven hospitals, especially during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

The honorable Minister was informed that more than eighteen thousand patients from more than eighty cites of Pakistan and forty five countries of the world, have been benefitted through Corona and Tele OPD Help Desks in sixteen specialties, established in Telemedicine Department of KEMU.

He was apprised that the data compiled through Telemedicine Deptt has been used for research purpose and research papers on Corona have been published in the special edition of Annals of KEMU.

The Health Minister visited the Telemedicine Deptt and witnessed its working. He appreciated and expressed that Vice Chancellor Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal and his team has done excellent work by establishing Telemedicine Deptt.

He said that this teleservice should continue on permanent basis and expanded all over the Punjab. Tele consultation with specialist doctors will be a great source of quackery elimination from the society.

He congratulated VC KEMU Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, Prof. Ijaz Hussain, Prof. Saira Afzal, Prof. Bilquis Shabbir and faculty members of KEMU for providing free of cost teleconsultation to the patients.

The History Book of KEMU was also presented to the Health Minister by the Vice Chancellor, KEMU.
