There is a suggestion to earmark a hefty amount of Rs89 billion for the development projects of members of parliament (MPs) in the upcoming federal budget for the financial year (FY) 2023-24, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
Sources told 24News that compared to the ongoing FY, the amount proposed represented an increase by Rs19 billion.
As many as Rs70 billion had been set aside for the development schemes of parliamentarians in the ongoing financial year, they said, and added later the amount was increased to Rs111 billion.
Sources further disclosed that there was a suggestion to allocate Rs99 billion for water resources in the budget; Rs92 billion for the National Highway Authority (NHA); Rs55 billion for the merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Similarly, they divulged, an amount of Rs51 billion had been proposed for the power projects; Rs44 billion for the Higher Education Commission (HEC), and Rs32 billion for Pakistan Railways.
