Virat Kohli has become the first player in international cricket to play 300 ODIs, 100 Tests, and 100 T20Is.
The landmark achievement came on Sunday during India's ICC Champions Trophy 2025 clash against New Zealand at the Dubai International Stadium.
Furthermore, Kohli achieved a unique record, becoming the first player to play 100 Tests, 100 T20Is, and 300 ODIs. While 18 cricketers have played 300 ODIs, none have completed a century of matches in both Tests and T20Is.
Kohli now joined an elite group of Indian greats, including Yuvraj Singh, Sourav Ganguly, Mohammad Azharuddin, Rahul Dravid, and MS Dhoni, who have surpassed the 300-match mark in ODIs.
The legendary Sachin Tendulkar remains at the top of India's all-time ODI appearances list with 463 matches, followed by Dhoni (347), Dravid (340), Azharuddin (334), Ganguly (308), and Yuvraj (301).
On the global stage, Tendulkar also leads the overall list, while Sri Lankan stalwarts Mahela Jayawardene (448), Sanath Jayasuriya (445), and Kumar Sangakkara (404) occupy the next three spots.
Kohli currently sits 22nd on the all-time ODI appearances chart but has the opportunity to climb higher.
Notably, the right-hander became the seventh Indian and 18th player globally to feature in 300 ODIs.
If he plays against Australai in semi-finals in Dubai, he could surpass West Indies’ Chris Gayle (301 ODIs) to claim the next spot.
The right-handed batting maestro has been in sublime form, entering the landmark match fresh off a match-winning century against arch-rivals Pakistan.
His unbeaten knock not only secured India’s victory but also marked his 51st ODI hundred.
During the same innings, Kohli achieved another historic feat by becoming the fastest player to reach 14,000 ODI runs, surpassing Tendulkar and Sangakkara.
