The prices of tea leaves, the only luxury enjoyed by the poor, have been hiked once again, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
Rates of loose and branded tea leaves soared, making them unaffordable for those who are struggling with inflation.
According to details, the price of a kg of loose leaves has been increased from Rs1,400 to Rs1,600.
The price of 900 grams of Tapal tea has gone up from Rs1,400 to Rs1,700.
Likewise, 900 grams of Lipton tea, which was previously priced at Rs1,600, would now be sold at Rs1,850.
On the other hand, the price of 900 grams of Vital tea has jacked up from Rs1,450 to Rs1,750.
The shopkeeper claimed that the market's demand for tea leaves has declined as a result of the costlier tea leaves. They also lamented that inflation has eroded the purchasing power of many.
