Pakistani rupee suffers against US dollar amid IMF visit

The Pakistani rupee lost more ground against the US dollar in the interbank market on Thursday as an IMF team arrived in Islamabad for review talks regarding $3 billion loan programme, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to the State Bank of Pakistan, the local currency depreciated by 78 paisas against the greenback and ended the day at Rs283.43.

On Wednesday, the Pakistani rupee had depreciated by 0.42% to settle at Rs282.65 against the US dollar.

In a related development, Pakistan and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) began crucial discussions on the first review of the $3 billion Stand-by-Arrangement (SBA) from today onwards amid the government’s claim that all targets have already been met.
